Apple Style August 23, 2006

When a Windows PC dies what do you see? The Blue Screen of Death. Ugly. Boring. Utilitarian. Blue.

What do you see when a Mac dies? The Multi-colored Vertical Stripped Screen of Death. Fun. Vibrant. Useless. Pretty.

I think the (very helpful) guy from Apple’s tech support summed it up pretty well: it’s a screen so pretty that you want to see it everyday. Uh-huh. Sure I do.

Wow! That does look bad. What was wrong? Software? Hardware? Do they know? I like the way the MacBook’s look. I’m not a fan of the new keyboard though. Keys feel odd. Still cool though.

Actually, it’s a really nice laptop. The best I’ve ever used. The keyboard looks weird, but it feels totally natural after a while. Apple said that the logic board was bad so they’re going to replace it. Hopefully that will fix the problem.

So did you get it back already? Was your battery one of those Sony batteries that has been causing laptops to burn left and right?

Oh man, it just came back today. They sprung for expensive shipping (I mailed it at 4 PM, they got it at 7 AM in TN), but then they go sit on it for 2 weeks! Oye ve. Then to top it off, they think mine name is Arlene and they refused to change it. Do I sound like an Arlene!?!? I’m still in the process of restoring my software onto it from my backups, but it seems to work fine now.

My battery hasn’t been recalled (crosses fingers), but my roommate’s battery died so he threw it away and bought a new one, only to find out a week later that Apple would replace it for free since it was recalled.
