Back from Vail December 16, 2006
Posted by Owen in : Fun , 2commentsI just got back from a fantastic ski trip to Vail, Colorado. For my birthday, I got a nifty Ski GPS unit, so being the nerd that I am, I recorded some interesting stats from the trip. It was a 4 day trip, but I forgot to bring the GPS on the first day so the stats are only for 3 days.
- Distance skied (in 3 of 4 days): 61.6 miles
- Average speed: 14.5 MPH
- Cruising speed: 25-30 MPH
- Max speed: 41 MPH (I think I could reach 50 MPH with faster snow conditions)
- Vertical feet descended: 55,240 feet or 1.9 times from the top of Mount Everest to sea level
- Number of runs: 52
- Longest run: 4 miles (from the Mountain Top lift to the base of the gondola)
- Number of Ermines spotted: 1
- Number of times my skis fell off while riding a lift: 0

- Nanaca Crash - silly and fun Japanese anime game. (Thanks Mike!)
Banff April 1, 2005
Posted by Owen in : Fun , add a commentHere I am at Banff… we decided not to do this run because there wasn’t enough snow, but this is one of the most unique runs I’ve ever seen. It looks like it would have been a blast in better conditions. If you can’t tell from the picture, there’s hundreds of huge boulders in the middle of the run that you have to ski around/between/over. I’m surprised it’s only a blue run, but maybe it only looks challenging.

Halo 2 November 1, 2004
Posted by Owen in : Fun , 1 comment so farSeen on Amazon.com:
I’m giving this game 1 star to try to negate those who have left 5 stars for no reason except for the fact that they liked the first Halo. There is always a person or two that write a review for a game before it comes out but I was amazed to see that 400 people have written reviews for this game 9 days before it has been released. Nearly everyone one of these reviews claim that because the first one was good, your going to love the new one. Thats just bogus. The purpose of these reviews are to give customers an idea of what the product is like but because no one knows what it’s like before it comes out, this really confuses the customer. Don’t write a review before you play the game.

Posted by Owen in : Fun , 1 comment so farI’ve had a sudden influx of… uhh… cute… websites (thanks coz!), so I thought I’d share them with you:
- copper: A wonderful and beautifully drawn webcomic… really inspires the imagination. It gets my vote for the best drawn comic on the Internet.
- Commander Kitty: a great webcomic that never fails to make me laugh out loud… start at the beginning, or it won’t make any sense.
- Orisnal: some very… let’s see… cute flash games. The amount of work that goes into creating each of these games must be phenomenal.
Well that’s it. Back to your regularly scheduled browsing (or RSSing as the case may be).
